Porcelain Veneers: The Ultimate Cosmetic Treatment

Porcelain Veneers: The Ultimate Cosmetic Treatment

Transform Your Smile This Summer in Downtown Toronto

Are you 100% confident in your smile? Chances are, you’re one of many patients who wish they could correct a couple of cosmetic issues. Staining, wear, cracks, chips, disproportion and misalignment, all happen to the best of us… but what if there was a dental treatment that could solve all of these problems in a single go? Well, we’ve got good news: there is.

Porcelain veneers are an ideal cosmetic treatment for patients who wish to achieve an overall stunning and flawless smile. If a patient has several cosmetic issues they’d like to address (for example, if their teeth are mildly crooked and stained), they can treat both of these problems with this single treatment.

So, what exactly are veneers… and what makes them so magical?

Veneers are very thin, tooth-colored porcelain shells that are custom created to bond to a patient’s natural tooth/teeth. T犀利士
hey help to restore or enhance the patient’s natural smile by essentially concealing the original cosmetic flaw. They also aren’t as susceptible to discoloration as natural teeth are. Oh, and another bonus… they provide strength to the teeth being treated. It’s a win-win!

The Process

Before anything else, if you’re interested in porcelain veneers for yourself, you’ll need to consult with the dentist to determine whether you’re a candidate (most people with healthy teeth are). You’ll discuss with the dentist the results you’re wishing to achieve, and the dentist will explain the procedure. He or she may also need to take impressions or X-rays of your teeth.

Typically, in the next appointment, your natural tooth/teeth will receive preparation for the veneer(s). This involves the removal of some of your natural enamel, or tooth’s surface. A local anesthetic may be administered to prevent the patient from feeling any pain. Next, the dentist will send impressions of your tooth/teeth to a dental lab so that your unique dental veneer(s) can be created. It can take roughly 1-2 weeks for your custom veneers to return from the lab, so you may be given temporary veneers to wear during the wait.

Placing Your Veneers

Before bonding your veneer(s) in place, the dentist will make any necessary adjustments to the shape and size. The treated tooth/teeth will be cleaned and prepared to ensure a strong bond. The dentist will use a unique cement material to bond each veneer, and then will use a special light to harden it. Lastly, any final adjustments are made to ensure the patient receives a beautiful, seamless result.
